Alpine activities

Alone, with family or friends, or as part of a group, a snowshoe outing is always a fun and friendly experience. From the gentle ramble to a more challenging hike, local mountain leaders organize a range of different outings in spectacular surroundings..

Via Ferrata

You don’t have to be a rock-climber to experience the thrill of scaling a cliff face!
A Via Ferrata – literally “Iron way” - consists of iron rungs and cables, which enable you to climb in complete security. In the Maurienne valley, ten different mountains routes have been equipped in this way. The Via Ferrata du Diable (The “Devil’s way”!) in Aussois is made up of seven separate sections. Put end to end, they represent a total length of 3,760m and form the longest Via Ferrata in France. This sport requires concentration and you need to be physically fit. Those who suffer from vertigo, abstain!

There are many mythical mountain passes to be cycled in the Maurienne region : The Galibier, the Croix de Fer, the Col de la Madeleine , the Col de l’Iseran, the Telegraph, the Glandon… but many easier trails criss-cross the lower valley too.

Canyoning, rafting and whitewater sports

Popular activities open to everyone: jumps, slides, abseiling, canyoning and river-running. No less than 8 canyons are specially equipped, amongst which sites in Le Corbier, Saint-Sorlin d’Arves, Valfréjus, La Norma, Aussois, Bonneval sur Arc…
